Michela Ferraro is an expert in the field of jewellery with over 30 years of experience and a strong international background. Her focus lies in luxury, innovation, sustainability, and precious additive manufacturing (metal AM) within the jewellery industry, which she considers essential for promoting ethical and sustainable practices.  

Currently, she serves as a Visiting Lecturer at Sotheby's Institute of Art, teaching Luxury & Sustainability to MA Luxury Business students.  For eight years prior, she undertook, at Birmingham City University, the directorship of the MA in Luxury Jewellery Management from 2017 to 2023. This leadership role was marked by exceptional success, achieving an outstanding 100% student satisfaction rate already the first year, following the launch of the course. She continued to contribute as a Senior Lecturer within the realm of the Luxury Industry, focusing on Lifestyle, Culture and Sustainability; mentoring and inspiring a new generation of professionals aspiring to excel in the luxury sector. She currently also teaches Business and Management (Law) as a Senior Lecturer at a private college in London.

Her educational background includes a degree in Jewellery Design from the European Institute for Design in Milan (IED) and an MBA where her studies concentrated on ethical and sustainable innovation in the precious jewellery sector, which later she expanded in the luxury sector as a whole.  She is also recognised as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), an Associate Chartered Manager (ACMI), a Certified Management and Business Educator (CMBE) and a Carbon Literacy certified by the United Nations.

Her innovative jewellery designs utilising direct precious metal 3D printing have earned her accolades from the Goldsmiths' Craft and Design Council. These designs epitomise the fusion of technology and brand identity, resulting in unique and bespoke pieces.
